At Nampa's FY27 budget hearing, Krystal told city council exactly what she thinks of Flock cameras: a mass surveillance system that tracks everyone's movements, all day, every day, without a warrant. She pointed to real cases of police misusing the technology, including a Jerome, Idaho police chief who used ALPR cameras to track his wife's movements.
Her ask was simple: cancel the ALPR contracts, and put that money into libraries and public transit instead.
“Mass surveillance is not the Idaho way, and there is no good enough reason to justify the erosion of civil liberties in a state as free as Idaho.”
